Dr Thorsten Stanley

Dr Thorsten Stanley was born in Sweden and moved to England as a schoolchild, learning English as a second language. He completed his medical training in Scotland at Edinburgh University and subsequently Glasgow. He has been a consultant paediatrician in Wellington since 1981 and was a senior lecturer at the Wellington School of Medicine University of Otago from1981–2022. He was convenor of the DCH Otago from 1985 until retirement from Otago, and convened the Wellington GP Paediatric Update from inception until he retired from CCDHB last year. He continues in active private practice. Dr Stanley is married to Sabine, a Wellington GP, and has five children, two of whom have also chosen to practice medicine.
